Historical :
Originally, Lac des Vieilles Forges was a small pond standing on a river called the False. From the sixteenth century, the successive installation forges on the banks of the Scythe and a dam in 1927 favored the extension of this lake. One of the ironworks was built by an Englishman named Witacker. It was the latter who gave one of the nicknames of the lake restraint
In 1949, the dam was enlarged and the lake reached its present level, a huge body of water of over 150 hectares, with around 12km of shoreline.
